Before you start
Choose the Correct Version
Make sure that the mods you are installing match the version of Minecraft you’re playing. For example, Mods for 1.16 won’t work with 1.21.Installing Mods with Fabric
Download Fabric
- Visit the Fabric website and download the installer.
- Run the installer, choose the Minecraft version you want to use, and click “Install.”
Installing Fabric API
Most mods that are made with Fabric needs Fabric API to work.
- Download Fabric API and choose the one that matches the version you chose earlier.
- Place the downloaded .jar file into your mods folder:
- For Windows: Press Win + R, type %appdata%/.minecraft, and navigate to the mods folder. If it doesn’t exist, create one.
- For Mac: Open Finder, press Command + Shift + G, and enter ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft, then find or create the mods folder.
Download and Install Mods
- Visit CurseForge or go to the mods section or another mod website.
- Download mods that are compatible with Fabric and your Minecraft version.
- Place the mod .jar files in the same mods folder as the Fabric API.
Installing Mods With Forge
Download Forge
- Visit the Forge website and download the installer.
- Run the installer, choose the Minecraft version you want to use, and click “Install.”
Downloading Mods For Forge
- Visit CurseForge or go to the mods section or another mod website.
- Place the downloaded .jar file into your mods folder:
